    Problem password at login

I've just got a new pc with windows 7 installed. I've been through set up and created three recovery disks. When setting up I entered a password and hint.

I've left the pc on for an hour or so but haven't used it as was doing other things. It went into sleep mode and now I've turned it back on it has taken me to a log-in screen and is asking for the password. I've entered the password as I set it up - checking caps etc, but it won't log me back in. It says the password is incorrect. It gives me the option to change the password but then asks for a floppy or USB Flash Drive. When I insert a USB flash drive and try again it takes me to the password reset wizard and then 'the disk is not a password reset disk.'

Is there any way I can rest the password? I'm gutted as I've only just set the pc up and now I can't even log in. I can't work out why the password is not recognised. Has anyone else had this problem and can anyone help - please!

(Just so you know, I've posed this from another computer)

    Thank you

    Welcome to Seven Forums, Shelly.

You might try rebuilding from the recovery disks and see if that puts the password back the way you set it.

If that seems like too much of a hassle, you might want to try some of the tools here Password Recovery - Top 5 Free Windows Password Recovery Tools - Password Cracker first.

Edit: This looks like a good tool to reset the password:

Offline NT Password & Registry Editor Review - Password Recovery Software Review - Password Crack ISO Download

Just download the free ISO file, burn it to a CD, and delete your password in just a few minutes. After that, you'll be able to access Windows without a password at all!
I've not tried any of these, so I'd recommend reading the write-up at the first link.

Hi Shelley, what do you mean by this? Did you shut your computer down and then back on, or wake it up from sleep?

Did you set up a pasword hint. Its my feeling that the password entered might be slightly different than the original.
