Recurring loss of desktop icons Win7.

Recurring loss of desktop icons Win7.

I am able to restore my desktop icons by removing IconCache.db then killing explorer.exe process.

On rebooting my icons have reappeared.

Now however the next time I go to reboot, for some reason they have disappeared again.

How can I resolve this problem, whereby my icons will always appear please?

When your icons disappear, right click a blank area of the desktop and select View.
Is there a check/tick in front of Show desktop icons?
This toggles icons or a blank desktop.

I think that the OP wants desktop shortcuts to always appear. I think that the desktop shortcuts do always appear for the OP. I think that the OP is saying that the icons on those desktop shortcuts disappear. In other words, the desktop shortcuts display generic icons - the correct icons have disappeared.

    See this post...

...that might be what the OP is attempting to convey to us.

I am referring here to the short cuts I have put on my desktop, for example Mozilla Firefox and Mozilla Thunderbird.

The back ground I am using on my desk top is black.
So now what is appearing are the names of these two short cuts in white, but for some reason these icons do longer appear, so above their names is simple black.

Again with reference to many other suggestions, I can in fact get the correct icons to appear and display.
However when I go to re-boot for some reason they all disappear again.
