    Bitlocker/Bluescreen/Windows Performance Tools Kit

    Hi,

I was trying to diagnose a slow boot, so followed the instructions here:

    Trace Windows 7 boot/shutdown/hibernate/standby/resume issues - Windows 7 - MSFN Forum

After I rebooted following the 'bootmgr -trace boot -traceFlags BASE+CSWITCH+DRIVERS+POWER -resultPath C:\TEMP' command, the PC bluescreens just after the login screen appears (with an 0x0000007E error).

The drive is Bitlocker encrypted and the recovery key has not been stored in our AD for some reason, meaning we can't boot to safe mode to correct the issue above (and do a system restore, or whatever)

We have the credentials for the machine (both smart card and username and password), however it Blue Screens before we get a chance to enter them.

Without the recovery key, is there -ANY- way we can bring this machine back to life?

    Any assistance most appreciated!

Will that work on a Bitlocker protected drive without the recovery key?

As far as I know; if you don't have the proper keys to unlock Bitlocker not much of anything will work to let you into the drive.
Bitlocker would not be of much use if one could trick their way into a locked drive.

No, I assume I'm out of luck.

I'm not so much trying to trick my way in - I have the Windows password and Smart Card which would unlock the drive, if only the thing would boot!
