How to make a laptop boot from an SD Card?

The laptop i am looking at is an HP Pavilion g series laptop. When i try to boot from the SD card it does not see it in the bios. I know that the SD card is in working order because i can boot from it on my Mac. After some researching it appears that some Bios's do not have drivers for the built in SD Card reader and only the OS does, is there any way to get around this? I just updated my bios about an hour ago and tried it again but it still doesn't work.

If your BIOS doesn't show you a boot option for your SD card reader, or the card itself, then you can't boot from the SD card on that computer. Some newer motherboards/computers will allow it (I think), but it looks like your laptop will not.

Is it possible to make my laptop a gaming laptop?
I just bought a new laptop, it's Toshiba L300. I loved it so much, but then I tried to run Sims 2 in it and it's so slow even though I already lowered all the settings, it's still slow. Now my questions is: Can I increase the specs of my laptop so I can play games in it especially Sims 2 and 4?
