Windows 7 admin priveledges question

Hey all,

I've got a Win7 Pro box. My normal user account does not have admin privileges so as to minimize the silly stuff. There is a dedicated admin account with a password.

Until recently, I could right click on install-able files as choose "Run as an Administrator", it would ask me for an admin password which I would supply and off it went.

Same thing with a command window, etc.

At some point in the recent past, something changed. Now when I click "Run as Administrator" I get an Error window which says "You must be logged in as an administrator when installing this program."

Also, when I go to user profile and choose "Change User Account Control settings", nothing happens.

A complicating factor is I had a SolidWorks tech support guy remote in (with a Citrix thingy) to resolve an activation issue about three weeks ago. I have an ugly feeling there is a correlation.

Any idea what changed and how to unchange it?

thanks

Chris

Also, now when I run Revo Uninstaller, it tells me "You are not an Administrator!", where before I could enter the admin password and all was good.

Okay,

Answering my own question. Did some cleanup in my admin account using Revo Uninstaller and Crap Cleaner.
When I got done I had an alert that I needed to restart my computer to trun the UAC on.

I did so and voila everything works as before. Just wish I knew why :|

If you solved your own problem, then you might want to talk to the SolidWorks tech support guy as to what he did to your computer.
