There are loads of videos on YouTube like this that can help:

Other than that, if it's overheating and you're sure you don't have any viruses or malware then maybe gaming is just too intensive for that laptop.
Is it blue screening before shutdown or just shutting down. Is it on charge when it's shutting down or battery?
No blue screen, just *poof*, instant shut down. Doesn't even restart. It's on charge. My laptop probably isn't good for gaming, it's a bad one and I'm looking to get it replaced hopefully.
Well, I'm not really much of a gamer so I don't know a great deal about Minecraft. But it does sound like it could be a bit much to handle for that type of CPU/GPU.
Well I can tell you one thing: Minecraft shouldn't be overheating a laptop. It's not the most resource heavy game (though It does lag a bit without optifine).

Worth giving the can of compressed air a shot then. I usually clean out my PC heatsinks/fans once every 6 months.

Alright, I'll try that and give feedback later.

Edit: May be a while though, probably later this week

No problem I'm sure other members will be checking the thread and they may be able to come up with alternative solutions. Let us know if it helps.

I've used a vaccum hose the try and unclog the vents and fans, and while it still lags, my computer doesn't overheat anymore!

Good to hear Alpha Hedge!

Dust and dirt in the fans/heatsink can cause a lot of issues. Glad it's helped!
