Can't login after Windows 7 update

I updated my Windows 7 Home premium this morning and now I cannot login. The login screen shows no users and continuously flashes black as the mouse shows that it's busy several times in a row. The same exact thing happens in safe mode. Please help.

I just talked to a client of mine with the same problem. You need to back out of the updates. You can do this by performing a system restore. Reboot the computer and hit F8 repeatedly as it's booting up. When asked, choose Repair Windows. You will be asked for your password here, assuming you have one. At some point you will be given several choices, one is System Restore. Choose that and pick the previous system image from before the system update (I like to choose the one prior, just to be sure). This will not lose any of your files, it just changes the OS. Then do the restore. This fixed her problem. Afterwards, go into Windows update and turn off automatic updates, and wait at least a couple of weeks until they resolve this problem.

I expect Microsoft will find out about this one and fix it within a week or two, if not tomorrow if it's really bad.

I am also experiencing the same issue after the recent Windows Update. My user accounts are showing but when I click on them it just loops back to the same screen. I tried your solution but when I F8 on startup I'm not given the "Repair Windows" option......just "Repair Your Computer" and "Insert Windows Installation Disc"

I've been reading a about a lot of problems with kb3097877.
A search for kb3097877 finds quite a few hits such as:
KB 3097877 crashes Outlook, causes network sign-in black screens | InfoWorld

I didn't have any issues with it so far, but I just uninstalled this update.

I too am having the same problems. My computer shut down unexpected to run an update and when it rebooted the screen just turns on and off with the cursor continuously doing the blue circle thing. When I hit F8 during startup I just get the Safe Mode options. I've tried all of these and the flashing thing doesn't stop. How do I run a system restore?

Same issue.

Exact same issue, and I've tried everything. This is super inconvenient being that I have assessments on it that are due tomorrow.
