What is the Public in the Picture Library?

    What is the Public in the Picture Library?


    In the Pictures Library of Windows 7 the are two locations: one is called Pictures and the other is called Public. The Public location contains several photos that came with Windows 7. What is the purpose of this folder? Why is it there? If I were to erase it would it create complications down the road?

    Hi,
    Public listing is for sharing with other user accounts on the same machine.
    Removing that location doe not hurt anything so there's nothing to delete just click on the Locations 2 above each library and click on Public and Remove.

    You can also delete the sample.... folders too without any issues.

In the default libraries there is a corresponding public folder of each library e.g. Documents/public documents, Pictures/public pictures etc... But the only library showing the public folder is the music library. Why is this and how can I make it not show without removing the public music...
