Runs fine in safe mode, but extremely sluggish otherwise

I hope someone out there can offer some guidance on this.

My HP laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium takes forever to boot to the desktop, and when it finally does, it runs extremely slowly and locks up after a few minutes. I seem to have no problem running in safe mode, however. I have Norton antivirus, and I've run several scans, but it's not finding anything. Please help if you can.

    Thanks.

    Hi and welcome to SevenForums,
    Use Clean boot,
Troubleshoot Application Conflicts by Performing a Clean Startup
Click Start and type in the search box,
    msconfig
Click on the suggestion on top or hit the Enter key,
Go to the Startup section and take some screen shots for a complete list,
Go to the Services section and on the bottom left Check the box to Hide All Microsoft services,
    Repeat the screen shots,
See the links above my signature on how to take and upload screen shots here,
    Cheers.

Thank you for that guidance. It seems to be running much better after the clean boot. I'm still testing, and I haven't pinpointed the cause of the problem yet, so I'm not marking this as solved yet.
