Icons are shifted at power op

I keep finding my icons shifted every time i power up.
Two weeks ago I changed my drive to an SSD and had a clean Windows install. Everything works fine, but I find my desktop icons shifted at almost every power up. Is there a fix for this?
Thanks,
Dual Trace

Right click on the Desk Top & when that small box opens move the mouse pointer to View & that will list some items you can select, so move the mouse pointer over & down the list & make sure Auto Arrange Icons, Align Icons to Grid & Show Desk Top Icons are all ticked. You can also select your desired Icon Size as well.

You can also Sort Icons by doing the same as above with your mouse & using Sort By. I have found that when sorting Icons by Name I need to do it twice as I prefer the Icons in alphabetical order.

I had all the settings like you suggested except Auto Arrange because I don't want auto arrange. I want to have and keep my own arrangement. However I tried it and the silly machine grouped all my icons to the left on one monitor and also placed one on the other monitor. I am using two monitors, maybe this is what's causing it. But I use two monitors at work as well and this never happened.

This is an occasional problem, and I've done complete reinstalls because of it at times. Windows is supposed to record icon placement as it shuts down, but occasionally something buggers it up. I've found this particularly true of Toshibas, and suspect one of the many "helpful" firmware they supply.

See if doing a desktop Refresh (F5 when the DT has the focus) will lock the icons in place over a reboot. If so, go to Scheduled Tasks and make sure no tasks are corrupted (it should tell you via popup). Then turn off Kaspersky, Defender and any other AM and try. Next you can do a system restore if there's a point where this was not happening. Or parse the autoruns to see if there's an offender there.

On my old Xp, using a cheapy microphone (plugged into sound card), I successfully overdubbed one guitar part onto another with no perceived loss in quality. I had a SB card and used "record what u hear" which I assumed took it directly from the card BEFORE it hit the speaker (i.e. it's recording...
