windows 7 and dual Cpu's

I understand that windows 7 home edition only supports a single core and not both cores of a dual processor.

I have done search's here and on google. I find conflicting reports and I would like to hear from someone that is using the finished product. I know is that it recognized it on the trial edition but some have said it was removed on the finished product.

do not get home edition, it is a bad idea.

I have some bad news for you according to microsoft's site only one is supported. you can read about it here Can someone point me to a clear and coherent discussion of multi-core CPU support for Windows 7 Ultimate x64?

I must not be understanding this correctly. Are you saying that Windows 7 home is not compatible with Core 2 Duo, Core 2 Quad Processors & I7 Processors?

I knew it showed 2 processors in the trial edition. I have no need for the Pro for I am just an old man that can barely find his way around.
The one remaining question---Will they let you upgrade from XP or do you have to buy the full version.

Now I'm confused, do you have TWO processors, I mean 2 processors as in a mainboard with TWO sockets (i.e. Intel XEON, AMD OPTERON) and windows home? W7 home PREMIUM supports TWO processors (each with as many cores as it has, 16 or something being the maximum). Anything below home premium only supports one CPU (with as many cores as you want). But I doubt anyone will use anything less than the home premium edition anyway. Especially when you have dual-CPUs.
