Unintentional drag and copy in Windows 7 Pro

I just got a new laptop, and I'm encountering a problem that I haven't had before in Windows 7 Pro. I'll be moving my mouse and, suddenly, I see at the pointer an icon indicating that a file is being copied. Apparently, just passing over the file with the cursor is enough to drag and copy the file. I tried to increase the DragHeight and DragWidth from 4 to 10, but that didn't do anything. This is really annoying. Is there a way to stop it?

Hi,
About the only thing i would suggest is disabling tap and drag or decrease the touch pad sensitivity :/
Report it to Dell ?

If the CTRL is accidentally held down this can happen. If you are not accidentally holding it down, it may be an intermittent problem with the keyboard. Report it to the PC vendor.

I should have mentioned that the touchpad is disabled when the mouse is connected.

This might help although you say that the touchpad is disconnected when the mouse is connected, worth atry anyway. Scroll down to Windows 7 section:

Weird one. Is the desktop set to single- or double-click? I probably would disable the touchpad temporarily via Device Manager just to eliminate it. Then make sure none of the keys on the KB are stuck in the down position. Compressed air is a good remedy. Lastly try a different mouse. If none of that works I would pull the KB and look for signs of liquid spillage.
