Have you tried changing the icon for the shortcut to something else and then changing it back.

    Try this..

    Delete the "%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\IconCache.db" hidden file
    and then restart the computer.

    Hi,

Try rebuilding the Icon cache , as sevsman suggests.

    Here is the tutorial :

    Hope it helps

This bug is still present in x86 RTM. Having long experience with Windows, I knew to delete the iconcache.db file when it first happened a couple of weeks ago, when a few icons spontaneously reverted to generic form (except in property sheets) for the associated shortcut. It's happened again, this time affecting a pinned program on my taskbar. I'm just amazed they still haven't got this right in Windows 7. Are there any registry hacks that help with this, like the old "Max Cached Icons"? Does that one help in Win7?
