    which os to use

I have acer aspire r1600 it currently has 150gb HD running windows 7 pro 32bit. I upgraded the ram to 4gb It was at 1gb . my question is would it be better to upgrade the OS to windows 7 ultimate 64 bit. on my system settings it says only 3gb is usable . I found out its cuz I'm using a 32bit OS . will the OS upgrade make any difference

There will be no difference if you installed Ultimate, you will gain nothing.

With 4 GB of memory 32 bit is fine.

I agree that 4GB is borderline anyway. Although 32 bit won't read all the available memory, it's not worth spending the extra money to buy a 64 bit version of an OS just to use that much more RAM.

Using Ultimate has nothing to do with that, Ultimate is no different then Pro when it comes to memory.

Your memory is fine, don`t worry about it.

If you ever install more then 4 GB, then you might install 64 Bit Professional, you already have the key for it.

    No need to buy Ultimate.

Your pc is using the other 1 GB, for graphics.

Open up Resource Monitor and you`ll see.

as stated above I already have ultimate from a old computer so getting the software isn't a problem . from what I think idk if I can stick more than 4gb of ram in that small computer it only has two slots for ram and if it can take more than 4 gb of ram idk I could be wrong

You`d have to find the specs for the PC and see how much the motherboard supports, I googled the model you posted and it bought up articles about the Chevrolet

There is no reason to install 64 bit unless you can put 8 GB in the PC.
