    Cant install Windows 7 SP1

    Hi,

Everytime I try to install Windows 7 SP1 (KB976932-x86.exe), it fails to install. I ran a program called Windows Update Diagnostics and it shows an error stating "Service registration is missing or corrupt". If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know.

    Thanks,
    Kevin

    Hi,
How did you come to have Enterprise edition ?
Is there any oem/ manufacture sticker on the case that states what edition came on the machine ?

    Hi ThrashZone,

Thanks for the response. Its a work pc and they have the Enterprise edition on them. I do not see any kind of OEM sticker on the pc.

    Thanks,

    Hi,
I would contact the I.T. department where you work :/

    Just out of curiosity
Click start and right click the Computer listing and click on Properties
On the bottom does it say windows is activated ?
Also at Start/ Control panel and system.

    Hi ThrashZone,

I work in the IT dept. but am fairly new to it. We have 1 other person in the dept. but he isnt sure how to fix it either. We ran the SFC /SCANNOW already (3 times with reboots), but it didnt help. The version of Windows 7 is activated and 100% genuine. I read something on another person's post that the CheckSUR and CbsPersist log files usually contain important information for trying to resolve this type of issue, but I am not sure how to read these files. I am hoping there is somebody in this forum who is familiar with reading the CheckSUR and CbsPersist log files (I hope I worded that correctly).

    Thanks,
    Kevin

    Hi,
Our expert is ill at this time but you can post the log files if you want too
I ran across this laundry list but it was on a simple search so you may have already found it

I will say Symantec can be troublesome to extreme changes in an os it is installed on the the part about removing a antivirus should not be discounted or simply disabling it as a good idea,
Scroll down to the first reply for the removal tool after using uninstall a program.
