    DISPLAY dimming problem and gadgets

    Hi,

I noticed that when my Windows 7 screen dims after a period of time, it does it very abruptly. And when I touch something it comes back to full brightness immediately.

I installed Windows 7 on another computer and noticed that the screen would dim by doing a fade transition to the lower brightness. And it also fade transitions back to full brightness.

    Any reason at all?

Also, I'm not sure but is there also a reason why my gadgets seem to have disappeared? I don't use them, but they are no where to be found, not in my start menu and I don't have an option to show them when I right click on my desktop.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

On the gadgets, there should be an entry for "gadgets" down near the bottom of the list when you right click the desktop. It's second to the last, right above "personalize" on my system.

And to clarify, the problem with the display dimming, is that my Windows 7 doesn't seem to do the fade transition to a lower brightness, anyone else have that problem? or whether its just the way it is?

As a first step, you could try using system restore (assuming you have it enabled) to restore back to a date/time before you noticed these problems. There's a chance that might fix things.
