Power settings in Win 7 not working?

I use Performance mode, and set it to NEVER turn off ANYTHING, including the monitor.

    I hit apply, etc etc.

It will hold this setting for a while, then after a reboot, or turning off at night, it loses this setting, and reverts to turn off monitor after 20 minutes.

Why is Windows 7 doing this?

BTW, Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit Signature Edition is what I am using.

Go into "change advanced power settings" where you choose to never turn off the monitor. Scroll down and make sure the "display" (and anything else...HD, etc...) setting is "never" there also. Be logged on as administrator when doing this.

I have noticed this setting not following what I set on a clients machine. That fixed it.

I would "restore defaults settings for this power plan" and try it again.

Try a system restore back to a time when this didn't happen.

I'm thinking this may be an OEM (Dell, Acer, HP, ect.) power management utility. Check your tray for utilities that manage power.

If that does not work it will not hurt to try disabling "USB legacy support" in the BIOS. That might have something to do with this. You can always enable it if it does not work.

Let me know if any of this works and if I think of anything else I will post back here.

If you use FLV player GOM player or KM Player you may have a BIOS issue.

You might want to flash your BIOS if your motherboard if over a 12-18 months old.

I built this PC so no dell OEM trash here :)

How would this have anything to do with USB Legacy support?

Didnt have this issue with Vista, so dont think its a BIOS issue, and I have the latest BIOS from ASUS anyway.

Probably not a BIOS issue. It would not hurt anything to try disabling legacy support as it does cause compatibility issues here and there with certain systems. I can't think of anything else. Wish I could take a look at it for you. Hopefully someone can help you.

    Win 7 Power Settings

I was having the issue where the power settings did absolutely nothing. Turning ON the screen saver, then the power settings worked. Just one of those Windows things I guess.

Have similar problems w/ power settings. Will not engage screen saver or monitor power off/stand by. Just plugged in the monitor. Just plugged in MS wireless mouse/keyboard.

This seems like first day stuff.

BTW the laptop on its own had no issue w/ the power save modes.
