    Hi,
Great news although I just had a bad experience with Linux installed on a ssd :/
Darn grub is tough as nails
Linux Mint Forums ? View topic - "Solved" Clean ssd with linux swap partition for new install

    Probably a defective ssd :/
I did see a while back the Crucial MX100's had a failure issue I misplaced the link I had to the Crucial thread where people were posting
I just minutes ago requested a RMA on the ssd.

Bad thing is I have another one identical to it about the same age...
I better plan for another samsung 850 evo soon :/

Yeah, the 850 EVOs are great from what I've heard.

    Great price :)
    Dang samsung 250's evo are 88.us and the 500gb's are 150.us :)
The one that apparently died was a 256gb so I might just get a 250gb evo

Save the new Crucial for vm's or something :/

I read some weird stuff forgot to save the link
But apparently ssd's or at least Crucial's build up a lot of garbage and need to be cleaned
One way they said to do that was disconnect the data cable and just leave the power cable connected and enter the bios and let it sit for 6-8 hours to force the cleaning feature in the firmware

The other was to let it sleep over night and make sure in power options the Hard drive listing is set to not power it off for that amount of time or more

Actually they = Crucial states to set hdd to never
There is no never option so you'd have to set the time to a higher minutes that would never be met to power the ssd or hdd down.
I already set to 2000 minutes.

Maybe a bad ISO mate or scratched DVD - doesn't take much.

With scratched DVD's CD's and the like I use use a product called Silvo 75g SILVO Silver Polish Wadding, Long Lasting,Jewellery: Amazon.co.uk: Health & Personal Care an example it is an alcohol based silver polish that removes those scratches and grime and leaves a crystal clear surface. It is even good for reading glasses.
But beware of a one called Brasso which is a solvent based product which will dissolve polycarbonate surfaces. Depending on the depth of the sctach dictates the amount of polishing you have to do and do it BY HAND and mechanical spinning heats the surface up!!

Silvo is non toxic and cheap if you can get it there in Finland.
