How do I save changes to my Power Settings?
Hi.
I had a problem with my CPU (i7-4790K) making high-pitched noises - very odd. I solved it, with help from AVSIM forums (Flightsim), as explained here:
PC making strange noise! Any ideas?
However, that leaves me with another problem. The registry tweak there produces a new option under Advanced Power Settings/Processor Power management called 'Processor Idle Disable'. Setting this to disabled immediately stops the high-pitched chirping of the CPU. However, the 'Save Changes' button on the Edit Plan Settings page never seems to be anything other than greyed out when I make changes to my power plan under the 'advanced' settings, so when I reboot the 'Processor Idle' setting is back to enabled (and the high-pitched noise is back until I change the setting manually again).
I tried changing a few other advanced settings, but the 'Save Changes' button in never accessible, always greyed out. Why is this? Is the Save Cjhanges button only for the two options on that window ('Turn off the display" and "Put the computer to sleep")?
How do I get round this? Thanks.
