Here is the latest info on this problem just in case someone else has the same experience.

Some of the error messages I received prior to the Event Viewer failing may or may not be related to EV's problems. Those error messages were:

    "Load ycc fail!!"
"GUI MFC application has stopped working"

Both of those were caused by EasyTuner6, a Gigabyte BIOS utility for tuning (overclocking) your BIOS from Windows environment, instead of in the BIOS itself. The fix for this is to uninstall the app, which usually requires Revo Uninstaller, as the app's own uninstaller rarely works. I'm still not sure if these two issues are related to the Event Viewer/log service crash.

    The third error message was:

    "MMC has stopped working"

This error is definitely related to the Event Viewer problem. Unfortunately, I cannot find any easy or elegant fix, (of course that doesn't mean one isn't out there, only that I couldn't find it), just a repair install. This problem pops up in Vista and Server 2008 as well.

OK. I just logged on because I was having the same problem and found a solution.

The following Services need to be running. On my Win 7 Home Premium some were set to "manual":

    • Windows Error Reporting Service
    • Windows Event Collector
    • Windows Event Log (this was OK, automatic)

Hi. Have similar and not similar situation. When try connect to my computer USB case USB store device, computer goes down. After some time start again without any warning. Goes to Event Viewer but does not work. Check Services COM+ are OK. Try run sfc /scannow , was running but no report at the end and no solution. There is no any Restore point. Running "Best connection" from F8, without solution. When open computer case, and looks for USB connection, find that mass wire connection from USB block was disconnected. It is looks when attach USB Storage Device get some kind of "spark". Will appreciate suggestion. Regards
    Edit
Try to run sfc/scannow again. After 3-d time start running. Get cbs.log file. After that run "findstr /c:"[SR]" %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log >C:\sfcdetails.txt" to get list corrupted files. There is about 100 corrupted file. My conclusion is to safe what I can and start with Windows 7 again. Any suggestion will be very important. Regards
