A lot of Windows Services not responding after Auto-Update...Windows 7

    Hi Guys,

Windows 7 auto-updated last night, and left me with a big mess today.

A lot of windows services are not responding at all, will not open, some freeze ect...

It all started with windows getting stuck at the blue screen, something along the lines of preparing windows ect, do not shut down. It kept looping on restart.

I got it to finally get to windows but..

Windows Update (does not open at all)
System Restore Opens *but* I apparently do not have any restore points
Safe Mode with Network boots to a black screen (safe mode in all 4 corners though)
    Microsoft excel does not open
    Cannot uninstall Microsoft starter 2010

I deleted all files under c>windows>softwaredistribution>download

I downloaded the service pack 1 manually from Microsoft website, the .exe file will not run at all.

So there it is, I can browse the internet but most windows services do not run.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried the last known good option, same screen as Safe mode.

and do you have a disk.

Yes, I have tried last good option.

I do not have a disk, you are talking about windows 7 recovery disk correct? Isn't that generic?

So yea, basically here is where the problem stems, from the failed update on 3/9.

Problem is most windows processes will not run or freeze.
