tweaks following a reformat and new installation

I remember reading somewhere some time ago that there are ways and means of trimming the size of a new install of win 7 by disabling the hibernation file and reducing the size of the page file. Is there anything else that could be done? My SSD is only 120gbs in size and a reformat is due.
As I’m the only user and there is no need for multiple accounts (nor do I see any need for passwords – nothing sensitive is kept on my PCs), I want to move/redirect as many folders as poss to one of the mechanical hard drives. I believe that there’s a right and wrong way of doing this. Can someone point me in the right direction please!
