    Caught in an endless loop

I'm running Windows 7 Premium Home on my Toshiba laptop and it does automatic updates. The problem I'm having is that when the comp boots up and the lock screen comes up, it tries to do the updates, then says that the update has failed and its going to revert the changes, then it reboots and the process starts all over again. I can't get past the lock screen to shut off the automatic updates. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Can you boot to Safe Mode command prompt? If so you can disable the Windows Update service using the sc command.

If you can get there try this command

    sc start=disabled wuauserv

Edit: On my Toshiba Laptop restore points do not work. Therefore I disable Windows Update and use a snapshot rollback program to take the place of restore points. You may have a similar issue.
