Windows 7: Desktop shortcuts with no icon image

I'll work through the steps in the link.. for now the shortcuts all have icons; the problem comes and goes, oddly. Thanks.

I would like to change an icon image and replace it with a generic image I have d/l from the web. How do I do that? Thank you.

Half my desktop icons have the same adobe icon? How do I get the proper icon that came originally. Any ideas how to fix. (Programs still work, but takes time to easily find what you are after on the desktop?) ........... Thanks - John
