    Noisy computer


    Hi everyone,
    My computer has been pretty loud lately. Even when it's just idling, I can hear periodic clicks coming from the fan area, buzzing, high pitched whining, and scratchy sounds. Whenever I do something intensive like gaming, the buzzing gets really loud. When I plug in the power the sounds usually get a bit quieter. The clicks don't really sound like the hard drive is failing. I can't really describe it but it kind of sounds like something settling into and out of place.
    My computer also gets pretty hot. It used to go above 100c in my cpu (when doing intensive tasks), but after a bit of dusting and poking around it usually settles around 70c. The assembly temperature is not far behind. The idle temperature is around 50c. Not sure if that's normal, or if it has to do with anything.

    The most informative sound is the ticking, usually and indication of a failing harddrive. Back up your stuff and then test the drive.

    Sorry, I forgot to mention that I already did a smart test Disk Checkup. It didn't find any bad sectors

    You PC is too hot. If it gets to 50 C, it is on the border of hot, 70 C is excessive, 100 C can fry your CPU. It should shut down if it gets to 100 C. Is the fan spinning normal on the CPU? Find out if the fan noise is coming from the CPU or the Power Supply. Download Speccy which you can check every temperature on your PC. It has a gauge which is Green, Yellow or Red to alert you of high temperature. https://www.piriform.com/speccy/download/standard
