Turn Windows Features on or off blank box

I have Windows 7 Professional installed on a HP Pavilion this was installed using the HP branded Windows 7 Professional DVD. I just reinstalled Windows 7 Professional last week and got all updates. I am trying to turn on Windows Games in Turn Windows Features on or off. The box where you add features is blank. I found some people fixed this issue by going here https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/947821 I have ran kb947821 and still the box is blank. I would like some help please. I was not sure where to post this so please PM me if it is moved so I can find it.

    Thanks

    Hi,
No need to reply with Quote :)

    But very interesting issue
Can you click the start button and on the very top right of the start menu list click on the yellow/ orange flower picture.
Post what that page says for your user account is it a administrator account ?

I cannot figure this problem out I have researched the issue and found a post on this forum what there solution was did not work for me. This is a fresh install last week. And sorry for quoting. I have run sfc /scannow and found some errors.

    C:\Windows\system32>sfc /scannow

Beginning system scan. This process will take some time.

Beginning verification phase of system scan.
    Verification 100% complete.
Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of th
    em.
Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For example
    C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log

    C:\Windows\system32>

I am unsure how to fix the currupt files. My knowledge is mostly hardware. I am going to do a repair install. I have also ran CHKDSK /F on startup and it ran through that took about an hour.

This is a legal version of Windows. Active and authorized for Windows 10 upgrade. The disk came from HP.
