Computer constantly crashing on start up (WEHSW)

I want to point out, it crashes AFTER logon. A black screen with prompt saying "Windows explorer has stopped working"

    I'm using Windows 7 64BIT

Hello! This is my first time here, I decided to create my own thread due to other threads not having anything related to the issue I'm having.

So the issue started soon after I installed OldNewExplorer 1.1.8 - StartIsBack+ - MSFN

It's not a virus at all, it just turns out it's for Windows 8. Safe mode does not work, crashes too. I have some computer knowledge. Been researching a solution for hours, this is my last resort. Help would be appreciated.
(I've created multiple restore points before doing anything related to install the theme, I couldn't find the restore points in system repair settings.)

    Welcome to the forums sputnikthegreat!

I'm assuming you've rebooted of course. Have you considered a repair install? It will save all your files and restore windows to its pristine condition. Heres a link to our tutorial on how to do that if you haven't before :

Hello, I haven't tried repair install. But after reading it for abit, it does require a windows 7 disc, with the same edition as the windows I have. But I do not have that disc, I'm not entirely sure what to do.

Try typing Windows Explorer in your start menu search box and right click on it, select "properties" and go to previous versions and choose the original version (probably the oldest one) and click restore.

If that does not work then you can try getting a .iso of your version of 7 here to try the repair install :

Oh, the issue is there is no start menu, just a black screen and a menu that says Windows Explorer has stopped working, it is possible for me to use windows task manager but it crashes when I try to task new a app, ex: controller.exe

I thought so but figured it was worth a try. You still have your license key correct? It will be on a sticker on the back or bottom of your machine. Use that to download the .iso file from the link I gave you, then you can do a repair install.

I understand, but wouldn't I need to burn it on a disc? I have a usb, if that could work. I'm wondering why the restore points I have created and previous ones aren't there? Maybe if there is a way to fix that issue, I could be able to restore back and everything would be good. Is there a fix for the restore points not showing? Or possibly enabling them from cmd? I might have kept them disabled but I'm not entirely sure.

Yes a usb stick will work just fine, faster in fact.

You can try also booting into safe mode with command prompt. Click enter , select your User Account. A Command Prompt window should open. Type "rstrui.exe" (without the quotation marks) and press enter. System restore will open, select restore my computer to an earlier time, click next. Choose your restore point.

If you have restore points this should do it.

Thank you, is there any alternative methods that I could try? Other than system restore or repair?
