    Desktop going crazy

For the second time this month, my desktop icons suddenly mushroomed in size and changed positions, dancing around and sometimes fleeing when I tried to drag a file into a folder icon. I right-clicked the desktop, selected View, and reset them to Medium size. But the next time I rebooted, that had become unchecked and the icons were huge again.

In some program, my mouse wheel controls sizing, so I tried that--it just set the icons dancing again.

Ok. You need to download an anti-malware program like MalwareBytes and scan your whole computer right away.

Thanks. I already had Malwarebytes, so I let it scan over night. When I got back this AM, I had a BSOD with Error 9086. Haven't found anything on the Web yet that explains it.

RE: Icons resizing. I had that problem once before. It was due to a poorly written program that was installed. It ran on startup and was set to only work with displays of a certain screen resolution and it automatically changed screen resolution on every boot.

I don't remember the name of the program. Check startup entries via msconfig and compare them with your list of recently installed software. Maybe something will show up - although it's a long shot.
