What OPERATIONS are going on here?

After some routine work on my PC this AM, I shut down the computer to run some errands. Only it didn't shut down. I got the attached screen notice. It does not look like the ordinary message I see when Microsoft is installing some updates.
When I returned an hour later, these "operations" were still running. I forced the PC to shut down. I opened in Safe mode and ran all my security software, but found no evil programs.
    What operations are these?

Thanks. I just installed Acronis 15. I'll give it a try.

The solution for me was to do a system restore to a point before the issue became known. For example, I noticed this happening in the past week or so where the computer would not shut down and the message stayed and the only way to get out was to turn off the computer.
The solution for me - and this has been twice in the past couple of years - was simply to do a system restore to a week or so before the problem started.
