    Green checkmark on photos

When I look at my photos using Windows Explorer set to large icons, I get a green box in the lower left corner of each photo with a white checkmark in the green box. I haven't been able to figure out how to get rid of them. Any suggestions?

If using Norton antivirus it could be that.

In any case you will have to find out which program created "overlay icons"

See a guide here: Green Tick or Blue Arrows Icon Overlay Displayed for Files in Windows Explorer

Start with this: ShellExView - Shell Extension Manager For Windows

get the 32bit version (I know you have a 64 bit machine but we are initially interested in 32bit prorams)

Run it and sort by "type" column. Scroll down to overlay icons and see what shows up.

NOTE: Instead of deleting entries you can just try disabling them then rebooting to check that you got the correct shell extension.
