    Laptop will not start up

    Hi,

My laptop (windows 7) will not boot. I get a screen (image 1) and if I chose start windows normally then it just returns this screen, if I chose the repair option I get a blank dark (but lit) screen and after 5 minutes I see a grey screen (image 2) I can move the cursor but that is all I can do.

I have tried to restart in safe mode but this just returns me to the image 1 screen./

Has anyone had this before and if so how did you resolve it thanks for your help in advance

    David

    Hi and welcome to SevenForums,
    That don't look good
Do you have a dvd with your version of windows on it ?
You can get one if not easily with this
    https://www.heidoc.net/joomla/techno...-download-tool

On a laptop remove the battery
Hold down the power button for about 1 minute
    Then reconnect and start up.

Hello my two cents we need more system specs and just how old is this machine??
System Info - See Your System Specs

You could a have a look through this too Troubleshooting Windows 7 Failure to Boot

I would even guess at the drive going bad too if so then I would get the data you want off asap see this

    BOOTABLE UBUNTU
Make a bootable Ubuntu disk Get Ubuntu | Download | Ubuntu
Set the BIOS to boot from the optical when the machine boots it will show you a screen with TRY or INSTALL > select TRY not INSTALL
When it is finished - it takes very little time you will get a screen like in the pic .
Open the drive you want > User and dig down until you get to the data / settings you may be able to copy / paste the material you want to an external source or other installed drive doing this.
I am not sure if it will but I have recovered tons of data etc using this method both on "dead" or just plain drives that you cannot get data from using Windows.

If the Ubuntu boots ok then the problem is definitely Windows based. .

You need to use Windows7 Install DVD and select repair option.
It seems that boot process is damaged.

If you are able to boot the computer , then make a backup ...
    See Ya
