Win 7 AutoPlay not working !

Hello,
i just installed Win7 Ultimate in a brand new 1 TB HDD, i purchased.
I had to start from scratch from installing drivers and software from my Ext HDD and memory stick.
One of the stick may had some Malware which would create a Short-cut folder in the stick; which i believe i had fixed that. But in the process of swapping sticks and Ext HDD, the Autoplay was render lifeless.
I mean whenever i put the Ext HDD or pendrives in the USB the Auto-play fails to work.
It happened few hrs after making a backup which will have the same problem later.
Does anyone have this problem, is there a fix, i am quite new and don't know my way around.

Any experienced people , Is there a fix.
Awaiting reply.

This is really a nasty problem.

We have the same issue with blank media, CD's, digital camera's. We have tried several ideas by Microsoft and all fail. This function worked 100% of the time with XP and Vista. Now the only choice we have is to go to computer > double click the drive and manually open a video or music or in the case of digital camera we have to open a folder and open another folder to get to the images. During this time the camera batteries are going to waste. There is a webpage with a 2 step fix and we have tried that. We are using the same settings in auto play that we used with Vista. Also a friend who has 7 his auto play works fine. The only difference is his Windows 7 is slightly newer than ours. Since we can access the photos by going to the drive and opening 2 folders then we know Windows is recognizing the devices.

OS is 64-bit. AutoPlay worked fine for a long time. Then I must have installed a piece of software that now prohibits it from working.
