I just got a gateway nv79 yesterday, now when i try to log into windows it will not take my password. It keeps saying incorrect username or password. It happened earlier and i just restarted it and it took the password, but now it wont take my password at all. Does anyone know how to fix this
Well, the easiest thing to do, since you just bought the computer would be to use the factory restore discs to reinstall the OS, if they gave you them.
The problem could be many things, a corrupt memory sector that "forgot" your password, maybe you just forgot the password, I don't know.
I didnt receive a disk..and i know i didnt forget my password because i use the same password for everything.. Sometimes when i put the password in it says welcome for about 30 seconds then username or password is invalid pops up and it goes back to the logon screen.

I think i found the answer i couldnt login but my wife can ....the laptop has a camera on it ...and it may have face recognition software...I try and try to log in and she just got home and put the same password in and logs in....
just a thought , have you got a mixture of upper and lower case letters/numbers or was the capslock on when you tried to log on
