    Laptop randomly freezes/stop responding

At random time, my laptop would suddenly seize and stop responding. Chrome tabs won't load, I can't open any programs or files, and I can't even shut down or restart. The only thing that I can do is to force shut down. What is causing this?

Well, with so little information its kind of hard to track down. Does it only happen in Chrome? Does it freeze when you use another browser? How long has it been going on? Have you tried a system restore to a point BEFORE it started? Have you ran any anti virus/malware scans? If so, what was the result? You gotta help us to help you!

Not sure if it only happens in Chrome but I usually first notice it in Chrome. I would open a few tabs at once and when it doesn't load after I while, I would try to open, say a folder, and when that wouldn't open then I know everything has stopped responding.

This has been going on for a couple of months now, it happens randomly.

Anti-virus and malware scans shows nothing not of the ordinary

O.K. then. Easiest things first. Have you tried a system restore to a point before this started? Have you ran a system file check? Does it happen right away or after its been running awhile?

Also, have you recently (since this started) installed any new programs?

I have two laptop that this is happening on:

One is a laptop a couple years old, having this issue for some time now. I have system restore on this one for other issues in the past but this issue still occurs. System file check shows everything is normal. It sometimes happens a short while after I turn on from sleep and sometimes it happens after it has been on for while. I haven't recently install an new programs on this laptop and, as far as I know, this problem never occurred after I have install a new program.

The second laptop is brand new, just got it yesterday. I have only install Chrome, Avast, Spybot, and one game on it (Elsword), all of which I have installed on my first laptop. System check, also, shows nothing wrong, and this crash happened a short bit after I have turn it on.
