Windows 7: Shortcuts....

Hello,



I've just finished installing Windows 7 and have started copying over all of my data from my backup.

When copying it back I end up with some broken short-cuts on the desktop that obviously link to programs that are not installed, which is fine.
But windows 7 "Helpfully" deletes them as they are broken........

I'm quite capable of working with broken short-cuts myself how do I stop Windows 7 from doing this?


NB. I even created 2 UNC (\\IP.ADDRESS) short-cuts on the desktop and when I lost the network connection Windows 7 thought those were dead also.... which is rather annoying....

Any help would be much appreciated
