how do I return to Vista? Is there anyway, to turn off Windows 7 and go back to Vista without a hard drive Format? I bought Winows 7 because, I would get a blue screen crash every day with vista and this error code every time I wanted to do a windows update. With Windows 7 I still have these problems, a blue screen crash daily, but with more lag then vista. Also, with Windows 7 if you change the screen resolution, it just shrinks the viewing area on your monitor. I don’t want it to shrink the viewing area, I want it to lower the quality to reduce lag in certain games. I would like to return to vista I am wondering the least painful route for this? | My System Specs |

Did you do a clean install or upgrade. If upgrade was it from an OEM (you bought the computer with the OS already installed). | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Dell XPS 420 OS Windows 7 Home Premium SP1, clean install, upgrade disc CPU Intel Core2 processsor Q8200(2.33Ghz 1333FSB) Quad Core Tech Motherboard Dell Memory 6 gb Graphics Card ATI Radeon 256MB HD3650 Sound Card Intergrated 7.1 Channel Audio Monitor(s) Displays Dell SP2009W 20" Keyboard Dell USB Keyboard Mouse Dell Premium Optical USB Cooling Fan Hard Drives 640 GB Serial ATA Hard drive Internet Speed DSL 2.85 |

Unless you have a recovery partition to restore Vista you will need to purchase Vista again and do a fresh install, either way you will have to reinstall everything again as there is no downgrade option, instead of downgrading to Vista you would be better off finding out the cause of the BSOD and trying to fix it. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Home Brew OS Windows 7 Ultimate Vista Ultimate x64 CPU Core 2 Duo E8500 3.16Ghz @ 3.8Ghz Motherboard eVGA 750i FTW Memory 2x2Gigs Patriot PC2-6400 LL Graphics Card Inno3D GeForce GTX260 216 SP Monitor(s) Displays ASUS VW222U 22" 2ms Response time Screen Resolution 1680x1050 Keyboard Logitech G15 Gaming Keyboard Mouse Logitech G9 Gaming Mouse PSU HYTEC 600W & Thermaltake 650W Toughpower Power Exp Case Thermaltake Armor LCS (Liquid Cooling System) Cooling Liquid Cooling System Hard Drives SATA 150GB

oh, thanks for the information.
No one can tell me the problem, my whole system freezes up 10 mins after start up, I reboot and its fine for the rest of the night. I go though this every day. Sometimes it goes to the blue screen of death, and I get error codes, I called Dell they say them error codes are with the "operation system" it also says something about clock intervels not matching so shut down to stop damage.
but lets start with the easiest of my problems then since I cant go back to Vista. I want to lower my screen resoluation but still fill the entire monitor. With Vista you changed down to say 1360 x760 and it was less quality but still filled your monitor with 7. it just shrinks your viewing area. Any way with windows 7 to lower the resoluation and still fill the screen? | My System Specs | | |

I would not think my specs has anything to do with specific windows questions like setting screen resoluation or a operating system crash/blue screen.
but, 4850 ATI card
6 DDR3 ram
i7 intel chip
standard hard drive

Okay, lets try it this way. Since your pc is a Dell, provide me with the Service Tag number of your system. I have worked on many a Dell pc and most times, using this info, I can drill down to finding a fix.
Since Windows 7 release, Dell has issued a boat-load of BIOS and other updates to their systems. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number My Custom OS W7 x64 Ultimate CPU AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ @3100 Motherboard Asus M2N32-SLI Deluxe BIOS Ver: 2209 Memory Corsair XMS2 Xtreme [1GB x4] Graphics Card 2x 8600GTS 512MB SLI Sound Card X-Fi XtremeGamer Fatal1ty Pro Monitor(s) Displays Dell 2407WFP Screen Resolution 1920x1200 Keyboard Saitek Gamer's Keyboard Pro Mouse Logitech G5 PSU Corsair CMPSU-1000HX Case CoolerMaster CM 690 Cooling Astek LCLC Hard Drives Primary - WD Raptor 150 SATA /
