Eligible for upgrade offer?

I am currently planning on ordering a refurbished Gateway MD7321U laptop. I checked Gateway's website and the MD73 models are eligible for the free upgrade, and I did not see anything about refurbished laptops in their FAQ, so I assumed it is.

But becaue I am not sure, before I make the purchase, can someone tell me if the fact that the laptop is refurbished takes away it's eligibility for the free upgrade?

I would imagine that it is still eligible, but the only way to be sure would be to contact Gateway.

I agree 100% and if you are getting the information by phone be sure to get the other persons name.

I nearly always make such contacts via email...partly because that too often there isn't a toll free number, and so that I will have a written record of their response.

I'd see if you can find any fine print on Gateway's Windows 7 upgrade page. At least with many other manufacturers, refurb models aren't eligible.

At the minimum, they do say:

"To be eligible for the Program, you must purchase a new PC between June 26, 2009 and January 31, 2010...."

I would not expect to get the free upgrade with a refurb.
