This happened to me after I updated my graphics drivers. (ATI Radeon).
I rolled back the driver to the previous version and the problem was gone.
This has been an ongoing problem with my laptop..Its so frustrating... I have till now shut down and restarted the system everytime this has happenned...I never read anything about 3rd party screen savers. I have one from Nike with lots of action..Im disabling it now..Lets see if this finally does the trick.
I just stumbled upon this forum and registered just to say thanks! I was having the same problem, but I did recently install a new screen saver, so I'm hoping that my problem will fix itself when I uninstall it. I think I'll go back to good old Bubbles too! Thanks so much!
My problem seems to be a bit different. My taskbar disappears, not hides, when the computer goes to sleep and the screen looks distorted about the # of pixels of the taskbar. My workaround is to kill explorer.exe proces with taskmgr and relaunch explorer.exe and the bar is fixed and the desktop goes back to the correct view.
Seems that "disable the screen saver" is a workaround, not a fix as the screen saver should work. The screen saver I have is windows "blank". I am trying the SFC fix to see if that helps and checking the video driver forums to see if they have a fix.
Isn't is weird.
The solution is to uninstall the screensaver.
Not real a solution more of a workaround.
Hi all,
Just wanted to throw in my two cents', even if it has been over 6 months since the last reply was posted.
I attempted thefix three times (with a reboot in between each) with no issues found, and the problem persists. Unfortunately, it's not my screensaver, either, though I'm glad to hear that that's been working for some people.Code:sfc /scannow
But, for those of you for whom the screensaver 'fix' doesn't work, or if you really like your screensaver (like me), and you don't want to restart your system every time this happens, I have another semi-elegant workaround.
Open Notepad and write
Save this is a .bat file (File > Save As > Save as type (dropdown menu) > Batch file) (I put it in my Documents folder, but I don't think it matters where it ends up, so long as it exists), and pin it to your Start Menu (literally drag the file from your Windows Explorer window to the Start button). Whenever you wake up your machine and the Taskbar isn't there, open up your Start Menu and run this. It doesn't have to be run as admin or anything. All it does it kill the instance of taskbar that's running and start a new one.Code:taskkill /f /im explorer.exe explorer.exe
Not necessarily the most elegant of workarounds, but it's been serving me fine for many months now (this has been an issue with my build since day one, and nothing I've tried has been a true fix). Just make sure the two lines are separate and you should be fine. And keep in mind that this will kill any open Explorer windows.
Hope this helps someone as much as it has me. And no, I didn't come up with this on my own, but it's pretty straightforward and I don't remember where I found it originally, so no credit to that poor soul. Sorry!
