Why is my screen purple/pink?

Just upgraded from Vista ultimate x64.

Soon as it restarted the desktop has a purple/pink tint but only running at 1920x1080.

If i lower the res its fine.

Monitor: BenQ G2412HD
Video card: ATI 4870HD dual edition.

Check your event viewer and see if there are any errors being reported....

Who says it's the card, and not actually a missing/poor monitor driver?

If you look through this forum there are plenty of current issues with Nvidia hardware, not that I wish to get into an amateur mud-slinging competition of course, it's merely an observation.

Anyhow...

Ive found the problem with alot of research.

benq g2412hd + hp dv6 - 1130tx - Monitors - Monitors/Video

Thought i would post the solution as im sick of people asking for help and not posting the soution. Makes problem solving alot harder.

I'm actually not surprised it wasn't your ATI card, I keep an eye on monitor issues as it concerns me from a professional point of view, and there have been similar issues reported on other Benq models - albeit they've usually updated firmware or drivers to overcome these glitches.

Even Dell occasionally release models with what I'd call 'obvious' firmware problems...

Definately a BenQ problem. I run dual monitors and only my G2412HD had the problem. I just dont get why the problem happend with windows 7 and not vista. Same settings on the ATI controller.

P.S. Who said that windows 7 was less of a resource hog than Vista? I was running Vista Ultimate x64 on my gaming machine, did a fresh format to 7 Ultimate x64. Its exactly the same. All my games still take up the same ram and cpu usage. Desktop still takes the same too. Poo. Looks pretty though lol.

Think i might leave my 3 other machines on Vista Ultimate x64 for a while...

Why is my screen purple/pink?

I had this problem and discovered that my vga-to-hdmi connector and cable, (which extended a few extra inches behind the computer), was pushed up against the wall causing the vga connecter to be bent a little bit. When I moved the computer away from the wall, the monitor immediately changed from purple/pink to white ... problem solved.
