    Tweak Problem

The file in Windows which contains the text that displays at the bottom of Windows 7 build 6801 (shown in the image above) is stored in C:\Windows\System32\en-US\user32.dll.mui. Visit this location, right click the file and select the Security tab, click the “Advanced” button and then visit the owner tab, click the edit button and make yourself the owner of the file. Exit that dialog, saving changes and then click the “Edit…” button, select Users and give yourself Full Control. Exit properties saving changes. Rename user32.dll.mui to user32-backup.dll.mui.
    Hello all.

I gave this a go yesterday to almost utter failure. I did get the "Testing Purposes" text removed; but when I opened anything it would default to the second monitor and then freeze, and there was nothing I could think of to get out of it. Then system restore occurred to me; which did the trick!

Does anyone have any input on this?

I'm going to try it again with only one monitor hooked up to see if it'll work that way.
I'll post back with the outcome.

    Hi Ted,

It looks like all you would need to do to undo this will be to delete the new user32.dll.mui file, that you downloaded, and rename the original user32-backup.dll.mui file back to user32.dll.mui and restart. You could do it in Safe Mode if you had to because of the freezing.

    Hope this helps,

I have so few problems with Vista now that I almost never use SR at all anymore. But I will utilize it to its fullest in this "7".

Well just so y'all don't think I'm tripping again here's a shot with the text gone.

What I'm finding out is I can open anything I want and do all the work I want as long as I don't want to close anything, "because it ain't happening".

One thing though: IE8 will open but not enlarge; and I can see the images changing inside the IE window but I can't do anything with it.

@Smarty: explain plug n play to me because I'm clueless......I've now tried both monitors seperatly to no avail!

    Hello!

I just read this again; I never could get the "file download" to work. It kept saying that the file already existed close the file and try again.

Every attempt I've made has been the take ownership, rename way!

    Thanks Shawn.

@Smarty: I guess they're plug n play because I just plugged the 47" in with the system already running and it detected it.

I haven't given up; any more suggestions?
