    Slow transfer speeds

    Hi,

I am currently transferring some large files from one disc to another but the transfer speeds don't seem to go above 16mbs. Some of them are iso files around 5 gig. Should this make a difference?

    I have 4 Seagate Barracudas at 7200rpm. 3 300 gb drives, 1 750 gb drive and a Maxtor 10 at 300gb's. I am trasnferring from a Seagate to the Maxtor 10.

    Cheers in advance.

    Steve

Are they connected with SATA or IDE cables?
SATA cables are faster than IDE's.

Slow Transfer Speeds in Windows 7

I am getting 23 MBs/sec between 2 sata drives - not good. They are SATA 1, but still!! When I transfer from SATA to IDE, I am getting 7 MBs/sec. ouch.

If someone has anything to add that might help, please help!

I tried upgrading the VIA chipset drivers (MSI 6702E - VT8735 I believe) - double checked with CPUZ, and they would not install as it said it could not find hardware suitable for the upgrade, even though I triple checked what I downloaded and tried to install.

Do you have any other symptoms that may suggest a solution. clean boot, etc.
