Another option is to try out a third party file manager that doesn't have the restrictions of explorer, there are a whole bunch of them out there, many of them free (like Freecommander).

WE do not want to SORT, that is the issue, we want to........

Drap and drop in the ORDER we want is what we are asking for, CAN one move shortcuts, files, etc WITHIN a folder in Win 7 Home Premium?

Example. Win 7 allows us to create a folder, put in shortcuts, and then CALL it a TOOLBAR.
That toolbar I created will post on the START MENU.
This allows us to "get around" Microsoft taking away the customization of the old shortcuts on the Start Menu to used program we use frequently .

So, I have a CREATED TOOLBAR which is a Folder I created in C: called "--" listed first in folders and it is full of SHORTCUTS to my favorite PROGRAMS and is on the START MENU withOut pining.

I could have PINED them but like the custom toolbar better.
I have a PW program, I created a shortcut and placed it in the "--" folder but WANT is at the top of the folder but I can not get the "P" at the top.

I want it in the TOP of the folder. SORT will make me have to change its name and I dont want that.

I think my problem is the same as the guy with the VIDEOS listed in the wrong order.
WITHOUT "sorting", how do we move the shortcuts, etc in the ORDER WE WANT withIN any folder?
