Help with windows 7 upgrade from Vista. I don't get it. i upgraded from vista to 7 when it came out. a few problems i have that i need explained by someone who knows more than me are:
1. How come when i raise or lower my volume it doesn't show on the screen that my volume is being raised or lowered.
2. How come when i use caps lock it does not show on my screen that its on all caps or not. (i need this because on passwords i have no way of knowing.)
3. How come when i press my battery button it does not display how much battery i have left.
it seems like none of my F1 - F12 keys work.... why is this and how do i fix it so it shows up on the screen like it did in vista.
another problem i have is when i type fast, my keyboard spazzes out and it types random stuff, it freezes, and it opens files/folders all at the same time.
thank you | My System Specs |

For one through three: This has never happened before, and never will.
Sounds like the keyboard may be bad, or set to a different layout.
Did you do an upgrade from Vista, or a clean install?

thank you 1-2-3 and F key issues are likely driver related - check with you laptop manufacturer for updates. Typing speed issue sounds like overloading the buffer which could also be a driver issue if it never happened before although it could also be a latency timing issue.

Most or all of the features that you list aren't part of Windows. They were provided by third-party utilities.
Perhaps your PC's manufacturer has Windows 7 compatible utilities available for download? (Vista ones may well work.)
The keyboard stuff is more worrisome. Maybe I type too slowly to produce the problem. Are there any errors listed in Event Viewer that are relevant? | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number homegrown OS Windows 7 Pro X64 SP1 CPU Intel Core I7-3930k Motherboard Asus P9X79 Pro Memory 16 GB Gskill DDR3-2133 Graphics Card eVGA GTX680 Sound Card Creative X-Fi Titanium Monitor(s) Displays As PA246Q Screen Resolution 1920 X 1200 Keyboard cheap Logitech USB Mouse Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer (old optical) USB PSU PCP&C Silencer 750 Crossfire Case Silverstone FT02 Cooling Noctua NH-D14 Hard Drives Corsair Force GT, 120 GB

Oh, hello this is a laptop. My mistake.
In that case, that voids what I said about 1-3. This does look like a driver issue then. If you have the original driver CD, look for Seven drivers. If not, visit their website and get the newest drivers (for Seven).

Regards,
GEWB That is a driver issue. It could still work, but the driver provides the onscreen functionality.
