    Auto-Logon for 7 ?

    Hello,
Tweak UI allows you to put in your user password and logs you in for you. Is there any way to bring that onto 7? How did Vista handle autologon?

Thank You myzr7, this information will come in handy whenever this questions comes up again. Never paid attention to this subject because I have never used the auto log in. :)

Works a treat. Thanks matey!. Interesting that there is no straightforward way to do this from Control Panel though.

One of the reason MS set it up this way was to allow control to the Administrator of the system. This gives better control to IT personnel, and also improves parental control. If you are the only person on the system then being able to jump straight to the system GUI makes good sense, albeit if you have children or employees you need the control. :)

Try this to have the desktop locked automatically after logon. Useful if you want to run things at startup but still have the desktop locked. It doesn't use rundll32 method (which causes stack corruption) and it locks instantly even before explorer starts so there is no "insecure" period where it sits on the desktop before locking.

Just go into the control panel, user accounts, your account name, then click remove password. If you have the only account on that PC, it will automatically log you on.

It is not secure to run the account without password. Having a password will help with security AND autologin is the sweet spot.

I see no problem eliminating the password in certain situations. There are two adults in our household. Nothing to hide from each other. Other than an outside chance of my girlfriend deleting files (which she knows better), do you see any other problem of no password?
