Can't copy files from external HDD to internal. I don't seem to be able to copy my "Music" folder from my external HDD to my internal. No prompts for permission or anything come up, just nothing happens?
I'm trying to drag and drop the folder using Windows Explorer.

Mark. Try this, make a new folder on your external. Put the old folder in the new, then try to transfer. Hope it works, good luck.. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Dell XPS 420 OS Windows 7 Home Premium SP1, clean install, upgrade disc CPU Intel Core2 processsor Q8200(2.33Ghz 1333FSB) Quad Core Tech Motherboard Dell Memory 6 gb Graphics Card ATI Radeon 256MB HD3650 Sound Card Intergrated 7.1 Channel Audio Monitor(s) Displays Dell SP2009W 20" Keyboard Dell USB Keyboard Mouse Dell Premium Optical USB Cooling Fan Hard Drives 640 GB Serial ATA Hard drive Internet Speed DSL 2.85 |

Do you have the send to prompt when you right click. If so, try send to desk top first. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Dell XPS 420 OS Windows 7 Home Premium SP1, clean install, upgrade disc CPU Intel Core2 processsor Q8200(2.33Ghz 1333FSB) Quad Core Tech Motherboard Dell Memory 6 gb Graphics Card ATI Radeon 256MB HD3650 Sound Card Intergrated 7.1 Channel Audio Monitor(s) Displays Dell SP2009W 20" Keyboard Dell USB Keyboard Mouse Dell Premium Optical USB Cooling Fan Hard Drives 640 GB Serial ATA Hard drive Internet Speed DSL 2.85 |

Trying plugging into a different USB port if you are using a USB drive, the ports on the back of the computer usually work best. You can also try changing the drive letter. There are steps outlined in this thread that may help you. External HD No Longer Works With Computer
Someone else fixed the problem by doing this,...
“I had a similar problem. went to the properties for my ext hdd through device manager and changed the removal policy from the default quick removal to better performance and everything is working well now.
hope this helps some off you.” | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Home built OS Windows 7 Ult, Windows 8 Pro, CPU Q9650-4.275GHz, E8600 4.5GHz, E6750-3.8GHz Motherboard Evga 780i FTW Memory G.Skill PC2 9600 1200Mhz 5 5 5 15 2T Graphics Card GTX480 Sound Card Asus Xonar D2 Monitor(s) Displays HannsG Screen Resolution 1680X1050 Keyboard Logitech G15 Mouse Logitech G9 PSU ThermalTake Toughpower 1000Watt modular Case ThermalTake XaserV Cooling Xigmatek S1283 Hard Drives GSkill Phoenix Pro 120GB SSD Internet Speed T1 |

It's just when I try to copy my Music (or my Video folder for that matter) it just doesn't do anything. Usually the folder appears on the new drive and the copy dialogue box appears, but nothing happens when I do it. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number H.P. / Acer / H.P.
