Can't move items in folders. Whenever I drag things (Photos, music, etc.) they do not move. Is there some setting somewhere I need to check/uncheck? | My System Specs |

Kenn J+ Dragging items around in the folder, I can sort them alphabetical, by type, etc. but I cannot move them around manually. It goes for every folder I have, from my old PC and the ones I just made.
The folders belong to the following: "SYSTEM", "Will (Laptop\Will)", "Administrators (Laptop\Administrators)"
Will is the name of my account, so I assume that's me. And everything is checked except "Special permissions." | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HP Pavilion dv6885se OS Windows XP and Windows 7 |

You should be able to move them manually, but they will go back to their location if you move them in the same folder. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Sony Vaio Z46GDU OS Windows 7 Ultimate x86-64 CPU P9700@2.8GHz 1066MHz FSB Motherboard Sony branded Memory 6GB DDR3 1066MHz Graphics Card 9300M GS 256MB Dedicated (Speed) + Intel4500MHD (Stamina) Sound Card Realtek HD Audio Monitor(s) Displays 13.1' WXGA Screen Resolution 1600x900 Hard Drives 320GB 7200RPM w/ 16MB cache Internet Speed 1MB/s |

Thanks for clearing that up though. +rep I agree with you 100%... silly is the right word for this problem. This is a detail that should be added back into Windows OS, I cant see it being a tough fix at all considering that it has been in all of the previous Windows. This issue should definitely be something that Microsoft looks into, I hope that more people will recognize this and post about it. | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 Professional 34-bit |

Apparently you CAN disable Auto-Arrange so that you can have FREE SORTING in Windows 7 Windows Explorer. See Brink's tutorial: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/92758-windows-explorer-auto-arrange-disable.html
