No 'Administrator' In Saved Files

I'm really quite confused about Administrator settings and permissions.
I set myself up (the only user) as the administrator when I installed W7.
It reads: Monsonman(Foghorn7\Monsonman).

When I moved saved music files from external MyBook back to the PC, most all files in all folders do not list Mm(Foghorn7\Mm). As a consequence, when I go into Properties/Details to change some settings (like track #), no bar opens up to allow me access.

But on a recent download file, Mm(Foghorn7\Mm) is listed and I'm able to access all items in DETAILS.

Of the 2 example songs, "Little St Nick" was recently dwnld, while "Ashokan Farewell" is one of the saved files from MyBook.

(Foghorn7 is the PC name)

Is this because the saved files are from old Vista, and my user name was different? How come there are other Users listed, too? I never configured them. I only configured Monsonman(Foghorn7\Monsonman).

Maybe these few attachments will better show my plight.

Maybe you are confused for the same reason I was when I installed Windows 7. The account I created during installation was by default labeled Administrator, but I did not have administrator privilegies.

Very confusing indeed.

I spent some time trying to edit and save c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts which I couldn't because I didn't have admin rights - but the account was admin account, or at least so I thought. I ended up changing attributes for the entire windows directory which required a complete reinstall.

I'll continue to look at the linked tutorials.

In the meantime, here are two other snaps. Each contradicts the other.

I've used MP3Tag in the past, and it proved useful in getting around the Properties\Details entry problems. But not this time.

Also, it mentions something about READ ONLY. Well, whether the song file(s) were left with 'read-only' checked off or not, it didn't matter; access was still denied.

Well, I just went ahead and dwnld the TAKE OWNERSHIP zip file and went through the install to the registry.

It said the change went through, and on the right click menu, Take Ownership (with the blue/yellow shield) is listed.

But...it doesn't work.

Yes--get all of your music collection consolidated into a sensible folder structure OUTSIDE of C program files--typically in C users Monsonman or whatever you are using. Divide them up any way you want, but don't put them or any of your personal stuff in C program files.

When you have personal stuff in system folders (such as C program files), you can easily have permission issues. System folders should be off limits for personal data.
