Windows 7: Shut Down or Hibernate?

03 Dec 2009   #11

Windows 7 Home Premium x64

I just Googled it. Hybrid sleep still uses power while Hibernation shuts down your computer. Because of that, I think I'll stick to Hibernation.

Thanks guys.

Hibernate actually turns everything off. Sleep does not.

Personally I shut down my machine because I had dramas in the past with certain devices not resuming properly. I haven't looked into it since because waiting a whole minute from cold boot doesn't bother me.

However on my sisters laptop, which is slow as molasses, hibernate is a great time saver.

I hibernate my machine overnight and when I know I will not be using it for several hours. Might as well save on the power bill.
