Desktop icons disappearing Hello all,
I have Windows 7 RC installed on my PC and actually it works fine.
But once in a while a few, not all, of the short-cut icons from the desktop have vanished.
In particular the hardware shortcuts such as the printer, scanner, webcam tablet.
All these hardware items are still working, and I can easily put the shortcut icons back.
But it is anoying, so what could be the problem? Is it just a matter of an unstable beta version? | My System Specs |

I haven't run into that problem on the betas, RC or RTM...so far. The only time that I did have that problem was on a brand new Gateway that I bought years ago running W98SE. Disappearing Desktop Icons Hello, I have Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit version. All Hot-fixes have been installed.
I noticed however that once in a while, several icons (short cuts) I have placed on my desktop keep disappearing. Not all of them, just a few.
For instance, the 'System' icon and my 'Printer' icon and the short cuts to other computers in my network.
It seems to me that this happens after I have been working with Pinnacle Studio.
Is there anybode who knows what to do to prevent those icons from disappearing?
Btw: I clicked right on the desktop and 'Show desktop icons' has been selected !
Thanks for the help. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Self built OS Windows 7 Ultimate RC CPU AMD 64X2 3800+ |

Welcome to the Forum
As you have noticed yourself, this is probably caused by Pinnacle Studio. I would suggest that you search for a forum for that product or one by the manufactuerer. You might even think about calling the company. I am sure that you are not the only one with this problem. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Dell XPS 420 OS Windows 7 Home Premium SP1, clean install, upgrade disc CPU Intel Core2 processsor Q8200(2.33Ghz 1333FSB) Quad Core Tech Motherboard Dell Memory 6 gb Graphics Card ATI Radeon 256MB HD3650 Sound Card Intergrated 7.1 Channel Audio Monitor(s) Displays Dell SP2009W 20" Keyboard Dell USB Keyboard Mouse Dell Premium Optical USB Cooling Fan Hard Drives 640 GB Serial ATA Hard drive Internet Speed DSL 2.85 |

Same issue I have the same issue. Sometimes they all show up and sometimes they don't. All I have to do is check 'Show Desktop Icons', but why does it disable that anyway? | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Acer 5517 OS Windows 7 Home Premuim 64-bit CPU AMD TF-20 Memory 3GB |
