Windows 7: No Tech Support for Windows 7?

Windows 7 x64 RC1, Vista Ultimate, XP Pro
No Tech Support for Windows 7?

I bought Windows 7 from and when I called up Microsoft for support they told me that they don't support open windows 7 what ever that means. So I paid the same price but no support because I didn't buy it from Microsoft. I'm just confused. Can someone explain this to me or was the tech person just full of crap?

Yes, MS supports any retail copy with the best funded Tech Support in the business.

I also bought Amazon (for the free shipping) pre-order Upgrade and have gotten MS support already.

They are required by policy to troubleshoot to completion any issue, even elevating to a research team that communicates with the developer teams, as long as customer is cooperative.

As with any tech support you may get a bad agent or someone having a bad day. I always politely hang up and call back.

In the past by being appreciative and eager to learn, I have gotten a full education in clean reinstalls w/o bloatware, virus hunting, optimization, etc. - worth far more than the price of the product.

Hi LostSoul,
When they said "open windows 7" I think they are referring to "Open License Agreement". Either way I assume MS has to support it?!?!? Call back and see what they say.

what version of win 7 did you buy ???
I hope not the OEM version......
if so then no tech support form Microsoft
